It's September the 21st as I write this. The sun is out, I'm lying on the beach and it feels so strange to think that tomorrow - 22nd September - is the Autumn Equinox and officially the first day of Autumn!
Autumn Equinox is when the day and night are of equal length, but unlike the Spring Equinox, the nights will start to get longer and nature will start to wind down for Winter.
These points in the year, whether it's Autumn or Spring Equinox, Summer or Winter Solstice, can be really good times to check in on what we have been up to and how we have been feeling, and then look forward to what we want to grow/do/change/feel over the coming months.
If you did the summer solstice ritual in June, you can go back and reflect on what you wrote and whether you have moved forward with any goals, plans, or ways you wanted to be feeling or living. You can also see if there’s anything you want to adjust.
I've put together a few questions you can journal on or just ask yourself over the next week, as the seasons change and we come into the last 3 months of the year. You don’t have to think a lot about the answers, sometimes the best way to do this kind of exercise is to just start writing and see what comes up…
What has made me happiest over the summer?
Is there anything I want to let go of as we go into the next few months?
What am I most grateful for since June?
What can I do to take care of myself and those I love over the Autumn and Winter?
How do I want to feel, and what things would I like to do with my time over the next few months?
If there are any other questions or things you want to journal on, then go for it. Use this as a little reminder to check in with yourself on this day or week and notice how nature is starting to change.
Have a great day and weekend, and happy Autumn!
